As an author, there's nothing quite as rewarding as learning how your work impacts others in unexpected ways. Today, I was touched by a LinkedIn post from Maria Mancuso, a Cyber Security Program Manager and friend (who is currently open to opportunities and a great Program Manager), shared how my book, the "Cybersecurity Architect's Handbook," helped her during her CISSP certification preparation.
Maria mentioned something that made me smile - she found herself correctly answering CISSP test questions without studying, simply because she had absorbed the concepts from my book. This is exactly what I had hoped for when writing the book: creating a resource that would provide lasting, practical knowledge that extends beyond its pages.
When I first sat down to write this handbook, my goal was simple - to create the resource I wish I had when I was building my career in cybersecurity. I wanted it to be more than just another technical manual. I aimed to craft something that would serve as a trusted companion throughout a professional's journey, from their first steps in the field to their growth into more advanced roles.
Maria's experience validates something I've always believed: good cybersecurity knowledge isn't siloed. The fundamentals I covered in the book weren't written specifically for certification prep, but they're the same core concepts that form the foundation of prestigious certifications like the CISSP. This isn't coincidence - it's because these principles are truly fundamental to understanding and practicing cybersecurity effectively.
To everyone who has picked up my book - whether you're using it to build your foundational knowledge, prepare for certifications, or enhance your existing expertise - thank you for allowing me to be part of your professional journey. It's stories like Maria's that remind me why I wrote this book in the first place.
For those currently studying for their CISSP or just starting their cybersecurity journey, remember that every piece of knowledge you gain builds upon itself. You might not realize it at the time, but what you're learning today could help you solve tomorrow's challenges in unexpected ways. In addition, if you have not already done so, you might want to pick up a copy of my book.
P.S. A special thank you to Maria for sharing her experience, I am truly humbled.
